Family History And Purpose

Thank you for taking time to visit our family page. Please keep in mind that family is important. At times the Creator and family is all we have for support, direction, and purpose. Our family exists to continue this principle. You are encouraged to support the family and its objectives.

This site has been established as an ongoing tribute to our ancestors. We hope over time to identify and include all branches and members of our family as we discover them. The Langley Family Web Page came online in the year 20001 (the beginning of the new millineum). Ideas were solicited from family members in creating this site. As it continues, all family members are encouraged to participate and thus ensure its continuation.

The past millineum witnessed the capture, enslavement, and attainment of the current sub-freedom status of African-American families. In a larger sense it is hoped that this page will contribute in some small way to our family and our peoples struggle for self determination.

The history of the Langley family, as we know it, consisted of brothers Robert, Lewis, William, and Emmett. There were also two sisters Anna and Mary. Robert married Lucinda and it is beleived they had no children. Lewis went into the navy and so far as is known never married. William married twice. His first wife died. However through his second wife, Pauline he brought forth four children George, Vernon, Whilemina, and Mabel. Mary married a gentleman named Paxton producing two daughters Louise and Ella. It is unknown if Anna ever married. Emmett married Corine Scott producing seven children Lucinda, Muriel, Virginia, Fanie, Thelma, Chris, John and Emmett Jr. The family history is very much incomplete but in time hope to identify other members and include them as well.

This page seeks to ensure a ready means of contact for any family member located throughout the world. It is intended to provide a means for family members to maintain contact, obtain family news, and facilitate the annual family reunion.
